| Description Lobelia has a long history of being a herbal remedy plant. It was used to treat asthma, bronchitis, pneumonia, and coughs. It should be planted in most rich soil. It does well in full sun and cooler climates but it can survive in hot areas with just partial shade. There over a hundred varieties of lobelia, but only a few annual and perennial kinds are commonly grown in household gardens. A lobelia has long trailing stems with many small flowers all over it, which makes it a popular flower for window boxes and hanging baskets. It is also grown in planters and in the ground. If they are going to be planted out in the ground it is best to plant the seeds in pots first since the seeds take a couple of weeks to germinate. | |
